It’s been almost four years since Google first introduced its Made by Google hardware initiative that began with the Google Home. It introduced the Google Assistant into our homes while also giving Amazon’s Echo devices a run for their money.
It’s been a few years but the smart speaker race is in full swing with both Amazon and Google fighting for your hard-earned dollars. Google has recently expanded into smart displays with the now newly rebranded Nest Hub and the all-new Nest Hub Max.
When Lenovo launched the Smart Display last year, it offered a great visual way to interact with the Google Assistant. Fast forward to 2019 and Lenovo has launched a follow up to with the Lenovo Smart Clock which does most of the same features but just in a smaller package.

The Apple HomePod has to be one of the more interesting Apple products to come out in the past couple of years. It neither a phone nor a computer, it’s a smart speaker that sounds good but can’t do a lot partially because it’s locked in the Apple ecosystem.
It’s no secret that Amazon wants Alexa everywhere in all shapes and sizes. The newest form that Alexa comes in (at least in Canada) is the Echo Spot. The device is the first (and only) touchscreen Echo devices to makes its way up north and the screen does enhance the overall Alexa experience but the device has few flaws.

Google wants to put the Assistant everywhere, everything from smartphones & watches to speakers, TVs and even cars. This is, so they can compete with Amazon and their takeover with Alexa. Google is also partnering up with companies to make devices with the Google Assistant built-in rather than making their own branded ones, one of which is the TicHome Mini which is by Mobvoi.
