Kia has announced more details about their upcoming EV with the EV9.
“The Kia EV9 transcends all aspects of traditional SUV thinking and represents the pinnacle of Kia’s design and engineering capabilities. Created to meet the needs of all family members, the EV9 also spearheads Kia’s rapid transition to a sustainable mobility solutions provider, not just by its advanced EV architecture, but also through the numerous recycled and sustainable materials used in its creation,” said Ho Sung Song, President and CEO of Kia Corp.

Just like the Kia EV6, the new EV9 uses the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) which provides a flat floor and even better interior space.
The exterior of the EV9 implements Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy which includes the “combination of elements from the natural and material worlds.”
The front of the EV9 has a Digital Pattern Lightning Grille and vertical headlamps for a more striking design.

Inside, the EV9 has plenty of space with a long wheelbase (3,100 mm) and a low beltline.
The Kia EV9 is similar in size to the gas-powered Kia Telluride SUV. Meaning that it will be offered in six and seven-seating configurations.
The seats in the second row of the EV9 can easily swivel 180 degrees to face the third row.
For infotainment, the EV9 has two 12.3-inch touchscreens and a 5-inch segment display that can control vehicle controls like climate.

The Kia EV9 will be offered in a few battery capacities.
A 76.1 kWh battery in the Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) Standard model. And a 99.8 kWh battery in the RWD Long Range and All Wheel Drive (AWD) models.
Kia says the EV9 should get up to 541 KM of range (according to WLTP standards). There’s also fast charging to get you 239 KM of range in 15 mins.

The EV9 will also be equipped with Kia’s Highway Driving Pilot (HDP) system that can provide Level 3 autonomous driving by utilizing 15 sensors.
Other safety and driver assistance features include Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA).
The Kia EV9 is set to launch in Korea in Q2 2023, followed by selected global markets in the second half of this year.
Kia Canada has said that the EV9 is set to launch in Canada towards the end of 2023. Canadian pricing hasn’t been announced.
