Volvo has announced their latest all-electric vehicle with the new EX90 SUV.
The new EX90 is a pivotal moment for the Swedish car-maker as they aim to go fully-electric by 2030.

“The Volvo EX90 is a statement for where we are, and where we are going,” said Jim Rowan, our chief executive. “It’s fully electric with a range of up to 600 kilometres on a single charge, designed to further raise our safety standards, the first Volvo car to be truly defined by its software and part of a wider ecosystem, connecting to your home and your other devices. The Volvo EX90 is the start of something new for Volvo Cars in many ways.”

The company also plans on revealing one new fully electric car each year.
Unlike, the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge, EX90 is being built on a new platform which Volvo calls the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA2).
The new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA2) can brings things like a bigger battery and more powerful electric motors. The SPA2 platform will also be used on the upcoming Polestar 3 SUV.
The electric SUV brings twin-motor all-wheel drive and a 111kW battery that provides up to 600 KM of range.

For charging, the EX90 can go from 10% to 80% in under 30 mins. EX90 is also the first Volvo to support bi-directional charging.

For power output, there’s 380 kW (517 hp) and 910 Nm of torque from the electric motors.
Throughout the EX90, there’s tons of technology like state-of-the art sensors like cameras, radars and lidar.
These sensors are connected to high-performance core computers powered by Nvidia Drive that runs the new driver-assitance suite called Ride Pilot.
Volvo’s Ride Pilot on the EX90 will be able to let the car drive itself without driver input on the highway.
For the infotainment system, the EX90 will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit platform which should provide “lightning-fast computing power and high-quality graphics on the in-car screens and head-up display”.

The actual infotainment system will use Android Automotive like the XC40 Recharge. The vehicle’s graphics will be powered by Epic’s Unreal Engine.
There’s also a 15-inch touchscreen that is portrait oriented.

To be more sustainable, the EX90 contains 15% recycled steel, 25% recycled aluminum and 48 kg of recycled plastics and bio-based materials.

The Volvo EX90 is set to go into production in the USA at the Volvo plant in Ridgeville, South Carolina in 2023.
Delieveries for all Canada-bound Volvo EX90 model are set to begin in early 2024.
No Canadian pricing has been announced but the EV will start at under $80,000 USD.
