Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones sets sail in March 2023

Following an official announcement back at E3 2017, Ubisoft has announced a release date for Skull and Bones.

Update – September 28th, 2022: Ubisoft has delayed Skull and Bones from November 8th, 2022 to March 9th, 2023.

In a blog post, the development team said this:

Ahoy there, privateers. Our team is hard at work polishing and balancing the experience ahead of the worldwide launch. As a result, we’ve made the tough decision to move our release date to March 9, 2023. We’re very eager for you all to get your hands on Skull and Bones and dive in headfirst to the dangerous and exciting world of building your own pirate empire. To give you the best possible experience we’ve decided to take a little more time to make sure we can deliver exactly that.

Ubisoft will also be holding an open beta for the game but no date has been set yet.

The game was originally set to be release in 2018 but development issues caused the game to be delayed multiple times.

According to Ubisoft, the game “is inspired by one of the deadliest periods in history – the end of the 17th century. Considered to be the second Golden Age of Piracy, it sets the stage for a chaotic and ruthless era of pirates, warring factions, powerful organizations and empires all vying for power in the untamed paradise of the Indian Ocean.”

The game will let players to chart their own pirate adventure from starting as an outcast to becoming a pirate kingpin.

You’ll be accepting contrast, gathering resources, navigating trade routes, attaching merchant ships and more in your pirate journey.

Since the game is being touted as a live-service game, Ubisoft has a multi-year post launch plan fr the game with new content, activities, stories and more.

The game was mainly developed by Ubisoft Singapore along with other Ubisoft studios.

Skull and Bones is launching on March 9th, 2023 (formerly November 8th, 2022) for Xbox Series X & S, PS5, PC (via Epic Game Store and Ubisoft Store), Stadia and Amazon Luna.
