Just a day after Samsung’s foldable announcements, Xiaomi has unveiled their latest folding phone, the Mix Fold 2.
When the phone is unfolded, the Mix Fold 2 is just 5.4mm thin and 11.2mm when folded. For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4 is 6.3mm unfolded and 15.8mm folded.

For displays, the Mix Fold 2 features a 8.02-inch Eco OLED display with a 2160 x 1914 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate with LTPO 2.0.

LTPO basically means the refresh rate can automatically adapt between 1Hz and 120Hz depending on what’s on the screen.
The Eco OLED display swaps out a traditional polarizer for an ultra-thin colour filter and uses a black matrix to reduce reflections on the screen. This in turn will reduce power consumption by 25%.

The outer display is a 6.56-inch AMOLED display made by Samsung and with a 2520 x 1080 resolution.
Powering the foldable is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor with 12GB of RAM. There’s also a 4,500 mAh battery.
For cameras, the Mix Fold 2 has a 50MP wide angle lens, 13MP ultra-wide and 8MP telephoto to round out the rear cameras. The front camera is a 20MP sensor.

For software, the Mix Fold 2 is running MIUI Fold 13 that is based on Android 12L. This means that Android should be more better optimized for larger screens like the one on the Mix Fold 2.
In terms of pricing, it’ll be as follows:
- 256GB – RMB 8,999 (around $1,703 CAD)
- 512GB – RMB 9,999 (around $1,892 CAD)
- 1TB – RMB 11,699 (around $2,214 CAD)
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is currently launching in mainland China on August 16th with pre-orders available today.
Xiaomi hasn’t announced any details about bring the Mix Fold 2 to other global markets.
