Vietnamese EV manufacturer, VinFast has unveiled Canadian pricing for their battery subscription for their upcoming VF 8 and VF9 SUVs.

By offering customers outstanding policies and various choices, we want to support them in their transition to electric vehicles and make premium electric vehicle ownership attainable to everyone thanks to reasonable pricing and advanced technologies, and to make VinFast a popular electric vehicle brand in the Canadian market,” said Emmanunel Bret, VinFast Deputy CEO – Global Sales and Marketing.
The VF 8 will come in two versions, the VF 8 Eco and VF 8 Plus. The Eco model offers two battery variants, the first variant up to 420 KM of range while the second has 471 KM.

The VF 8 Plus meanwhile comes with 400 KM of range in the battery variant 1 and 447 KM in the battery variant 2.

Pricing for the VF 8 is as follows:
- VF 8 Eco (battery variant 1) – $50,850 CAD
- VF 8 Eco (battery variant 2) – $51,210 CAD
- VF 8 Plus (battery variant 1) – $59,350 CAD
- VF 8 Plus (battery variant 2) – $59,750 CAD
For the VF 9, the Eco version offers up to 438 KM of range for the first battery variant while the second has 594 KM.

The VF 9 Plus comes with 423 KM of range in the battery variant 1 and 580 KM in the battery variant 2.
Pricing for the VF 9 is as follows:
- VF 9 Eco (battery variant 1) – $69,150 CAD
- VF 9 Eco (battery variant 2) – $75,650 CAD
- VF 9 Plus (battery variant 1) – $69,370 CAD
- VF 9 Plus (battery variant 2) – $76,650 CAD
Each VinFast customer will be offer two battery subscription plans, Flexible and Fixed.

The Fixed Plan offers unlimited KM for $139 CAD per month for the VF 8 and $199 CAD for the VF 9.
The Flexible Plan offers up to 500 KM for $39 CAD per month, with an additional $0.09 CAD per KM post-500 KM on the VF 8. The plan costs $59 CAD per month with an additional $0.11 CAD per KM post-500 KM for the VF 9.
The company says they will be offering lifetime battery warranty including covering all maintenance and repair costs. If you’re battery capacity drops below 70%, VinFast will replace the battery for free.
Customers that buy a VinFast vehicle from now until the end of 2023, will need to buy a battery subscription.
After 2024, 50% of VinFast’s EVs will be sold with a battery subscription. The other 50% will be sold with batteries like other EVs.
Deliveries of the VinFast VF 8 and VF 9 to Canadian customers are set to begin in the second half of 2022.
