After years of speculation, Rockstar Games has confirmed that the next GTA entry is in the works.
In the blog post on their Newswire, the company says,
With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.
This is great for longtime fans of the series and those growing tired of GTA 5.
While will still no little to nothing about the next Grand Theft Auto game, it’s nice to hear that Rockstar is actually working on it, whenever it may arrive. Current rumours are suggesting a 2024 at the earliest or even 2025.
In other GTA news, Rockstar also announced a release date for the Xbox Series X & S and PS5 ports of GTA 5.
In the “Expanded and Enhanced” version of the game, you’ll get updated graphics including texture and draw distance upgrades, HDR and ray-tracing support, 4K resolution at up to 60fps.
If you already own GTA 5 on Xbox One or PS4, you’ll be able to your Story Mode and current GTA Online characters with a one-time migration at launch.
A standalone version of GTA Online will be launching as well for both current-gen consoles and will be free for the first three months for PS5 owners.
Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox Series X & S and PS5 will arrive on March 15th, 2022.
