LG announces their first gaming laptop ahead of CES 2022

LG has been in the gaming space for a while now with their monitors, now they are expanding their gaming presence with the new 17-inch LG UltraGear laptop.

The LG UltraGear laptop (17G90Q) features a 17.3-inch screen with a FHD resolution at 300Hz refresh rate and 99% sRGB colour gamut. The higher refresh screen should provide a 1 millisecond response time.

“The LG UltraGear gaming laptop has everything needed to tackle the latest high-spec games, delivering the smooth, responsive gameplay that all gamers want,” said Seo Young-jae, senior vice president and head of the IT business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company. “Our first-ever gaming laptop, the 17G90Q differentiates itself from competing products with its premium hardware, generous, high-quality screen, and a sleek, lightweight design that maximizes convenience and portability.”

Powering the new laptop is the 11th Gen Intel core processor (Tiger Lake H) but LG hasn’t specified which exact chip.

On the graphics side, there’s a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q GPU. There’s also fingerprint sensor on the power button, Wi-Fi 6E support, 2 Way Speaker with DTS X Ultra and a Cooling System with Vapor Chamber.

The battery in the laptop is 93Wh and the device weights 2.64kg.

Storage and RAM options include up to a 1TB SSD with an additional M.2 slot and up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM.

The LG UltraGear laptop (17G90Q) is set to launch in the US and South Korea in early 2022.

Canadian availability hasn’t been confirmed yet for the LG UltraGear laptop (17G90Q).
