Sony has taken the wraps off two new home theatre audio systems with the HT-A7000 soundbar and HT-A9 speakers.
“The A9 and A7000 represent a new and powerful era for Sony’s home audio products,” said Daisuke Kawaguchi, Vice President of Home Entertainment & Sound, Sony Electronics Inc. “With best-in-class surround sound that boasts unique optimization features, these new products give anyone the ability to create immersive cinematic experiences without ever leaving their living room.”
HT-A7000

The HT-A7000 is the company’s latest flagship soundbar that offers 7.1.2 channel sound. There are two up-firing speakers, two beam tweeters and five front speakers along with a built-in subwoofer.
The soundbar supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for an even more immersive sound experience. It also includes support for Sony’s 360 Reality Audio that makes it feel if “s if they were directly in front of their favorite artist.”

For ports, there are two HDMI 2.1 inputs (with 4K 120fps passthrough and Dolby Vision support) and one HDMI out, all of which support ARC and eARC. There’s also optical audio, analogue input and a USB-A port.
The A7000 has Bluetooth 5.0, built-in Wi-Fi, Spotify Connect, Chromecast and AirPlay 2 support.
The HT-A7000 soundbar is launching on September 20th for $1,699 CAD ($1,299 USD).
HT-A9

If you’re looking for a more immersive setup, then Sony’s new HT-A9 Home Theatre System might be more of your style.
The system is comprised of four speakers and control box. You can place the speakers anywhere in your room and they’ll automatically be optimized.

The control box has an HDMI in and out ports with eARC support and a ethernet jack.
Inside of each speaker unit is a up-firing speaker, soft dome type tweeter, wide directivity woofer and dual mics.
Each of the speakers will need to be plugged into a wall outlet, so it’s not a complete wire-free setup.
The HT-A9 uses Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound and Sound Field Optimization along with dual microphones in each speaker to measure height and position.
Just like the A7000, the HT-A9 has Bluetooth 5.0, built-in Wi-Fi, Spotify Connect, Chromecast and AirPlay 2 support.

The HT-A9 system will be launching on September 20th for $2,299 CAD ($1,799 USD).
Sony also announced three new subwoofers and rear speakers that are compatible with the HT-A9 and A7000 and launching along side them.
The SA-SW5 300W wireless subwoofer retails for $899 CAD ($699 USD). The SA-SW3 200W wireless subwoofer goes for $399 CAD ($399 USD).
And the optional SA-RS3S wireless rear speakers for the A7000 will be priced at $449 CAD ($349 USD).
