Sony’s new HT-A5000 soundbar offers Dolby Atmos and 5.1.2 sound

Sony has announced the new HT-A5000 soundbar to add to their Dolby Atmos audio product lineup.

“We are committed to creating the best sound experience possible for our customers, no matter their home setup,” said Tyler Ishida, Deputy President for Consumer Business Group, Sony Electronics Inc. “With impressive optimization capabilities, the A5000 offers an immersive soundscape that’s suited for any room.”

Similar to the HT-A7000, the HT-A5000 offers 5.1.2 channel sound via two up-firing speakers, two beam tweeters along with a built-in subwoofer.

It supports formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for an immersive sound experience. The soundbar also comes with S-Force Pro Front Surround which helps bring a even wider and larger sound field horizontally.

Using it’s built-in mic, the HT-A5000 has Sound Field Optimization that intelligentially measures the height and width of your room and tells you where you could position an optional subwoofer and rear speakers.

The HT-A5000 has DSEE Extreme that upsclaes compress digital files in real-time for richer sound. The soundbar has built-in Wi-Fi, Spotify Connect, Chromecast, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth.

The Sony HT-A5000 soundbar is set to launch this fall for $899 USD. Canadian pricing and availability to be confirmed.
