Carl Pei’s startup, Nothing has announced when they’ll be debuting their first product, the ear (1) wireless earbuds.
The company was first announced back in January and has received funding from the likes of GV (formerly Google Ventures), Tony Fadell (inventor of the iPod, Casey Neistat (YouTuber), Kevin Lin (co-founder of Twitch), Steve Huffman (CEO of Reddit) and Josh Buckley (CEO of Product Hunt).
Details on the company’s upcoming product have been slim but they will be using transparent elements in it’s design.
The earbuds were also designed in collaboration with Teenage Engineering, who will also be working with Nothing on future products.
The ear (1) wireless earbuds will be the first many products for Nothing, which previously said they plan to release devices across multiple categories.
For those interested, Nothing’s ear (1) announcement is set for July 27th at 14:00 BST (9AM ET).
Update – July 7, 2021: In an interview with TechCrunch, Nothing has announced that their ear (1) earbuds will feature “state-of-the-art” Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) but also cost $99 USD/£99 GBP.
They also released a short film about the making of the ear (1) earbuds, similar to OnePlus’ Nord New Beginnings mini-docs from last year.
We’ll have more on the ear (1) closer to launch.
