Following the Echo Show 10 launch earlier this year, Amazon has upgraded the Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 5.
“Customers love using Echo Show to easily stay in touch and in the past year have made nearly three times the number of video calls globally than the year prior,” said Celine Lee, Canada Country Manager, Amazon Alexa. “With these new Echo Show devices, we focused on communications—bringing a powerful camera and digital pan and zoom capabilities to the new Echo Show 8, upgrading the Echo Show 5 camera, and adding new AR effects to make video calls more fun and engaging.”
Echo Show 8

The new Echo Show 8 still features an 8-inch screen but has been improved to be more vibrant.
While the original Echo Show 8 had a 1MP camera, the new model brings a 13MP camera along with a built-in camera shutter.

Powering the updated Echo Show 8 is a new octa-core processor. Similar to the Echo Show 10, the camera on the Echo Show 8 will automatically pan and zooms while you’re on video calls, so you stay in the frame.
There are also dual stereo speakers for when listening to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music etc.
The Echo Show 8 comes in two colours, Charcoal and Glacier White and costs $169 CAD.
Pre-orders for the new Echo Show 8 start today and the device ships on June 9th.
Echo Show 5

The new Echo Show 5 features a 5.5-inch display like the original. But now the camera has been upgraded to an HD one, which should be good for video calls.

There’s also a built-in privacy shutter on the Echo Show 5’s camera for privacy.
The Echo Show 5 comes in three colours, Charcoal, Glacier White, and a new Deep Sea Blue colour.
Pre-orders for the new Echo Show 5 starts today and the device ships on June 9th and it costs $99 CAD.
