Alienware has announced its first gaming laptop with AMD in over a decade with the new m15 Ryzen Edition R5.
Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5
As the name implies, the m15 Ryzen Edition R5 uses up to AMD Ryzen 5000 H-Series Mobile Processors.
GPU options include either an Nvidia RTX 3060 or RTX 3070. There’s also Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 wireless.
The laptop will be the first Alienware device with their new Silky-Smooth High-Endurance paint formula.
The device also comes with the option for the ultra-low-profile mechanical keyboard co-developed with Cherry MX.
The 15.6-inch display can be optioned with FHD resolution at 165Hz or 360Hz refresh rate. The QHD display options get you a 240Hz refresh rate.
There’s up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 4TB SSD (2x 2TB PCIe M.2 SSD).
Ports on the laptop include:
- HDMI 2.1 port
- 2.5Gbps Ethernet port
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 port
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port
- Power/DC-in Port
- Global headset jack
The battery is 86 Whr with Alienware Battery Defender technology and the laptop weighs 5.94lbs.
The Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 is up for pre-order on April 20 starting at $1793.98 USD. It comes in a Dark Side of the Moon colour.
Canadian pricing hasn’t been announced.
Dell G15 Ryzen Edition
That wasn’t the only AMD laptop Dell announced, the company also unveiled the G15 Ryzen Edition.
It comes powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 5600H or Ryzen 7 5800H processors with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM. There’s also an option for a 2TB SSD.
Only one GPU option is available and that’s the RTX 3060.
The G15 Ryzen Edition has a 15.6-inch FHD display at either a 120 Hz or 165 Hz refresh rate.
It comes with Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650x and Gigabit ethernet.
For ports, the laptop has:
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 2x SuperSpeed USB 2.0 Gen 1 Type-A including 1x with PowerShare
- 1x SuperSpeed USB 3.2
- 1x USB-C Data/Display Port Alt-Mode
- Headphone/Mic
- 1x RJ45
The laptop uses a 56WHr battery that can be optioned to an 86WHr battery.
It comes in two colours, Specter Green and Phantom Grey.
The Dell G15 Ryzen Edition goes up for pre-order on May 4th globally, starting at $799 USD. The Intel version of the new G15 goes on sale on April 13th.
Canadian pricing for the laptop hasn’t been announced.
