One of the “world’s bestselling Android smartphones” last year was Samsung’s Galaxy A51. Now the company is back with its successors, the Galaxy A52 5G and A52 alongside the new A72.
This year’s Galaxy A series consists of three models, the Galaxy A52 5G, A52 and A72. There is also a Galaxy A32 but that already launched and is for other markets.
Galaxy A52 5G

The Galaxy A52 5G has a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s similar to the one featured on the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus.

Powering the A52 5G is the Snapdragon 750G processor with 6 or 8GB of RAM depending on the storage option. With the 750G processor, it brings 5G network support.
You can get the phone with either 128 or 256GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot. The phone is running Android 11 with Samsung’s One UI 3.1 and will get 3 OS updates and 4 years of security updates.
Battery life shouldn’t be an issue, thanks to the 4,500 mAh battery. There are also stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an in-display fingerprint sensor and IP67 water and dust resistance.

For cameras, the A52 5G has four of them, one 64MP main lens, 12MP wide-angle, 5MP depth and 5MP macro. The selfie camera is 32MP.

Galaxy A52

The standard Galaxy A52 is very similar to its 5G variant except for a few differences.
The Galaxy A52 has a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a 90Hz refresh rate, as compared to 120Hz.

Powering the A52 is the Snapdragon 720G processor with, 4, 6 or 8GB of RAM.
Storage options include 128 or 256GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot. For software, the phone is running Android 11 with Samsung’s One UI 3.1 and will get 3 OS updates and 4 years of security updates.

The phone has a 4,500 mAh battery, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an in-display fingerprint sensor and IP67 water and dust resistance.

In terms of cameras, the A52 has four, one 64MP main lens, 12MP wide-angle, 5MP depth and 5MP macro. The selfie camera is 32MP.

Just like the 5G model, the Galaxy A52 is offered in a few colours including, Awesome Black, Awesome White, Awesome Blue and Awesome Violet.
Galaxy A72

The Galaxy A72 offers a slighter large screen with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a 90Hz refresh rate.
Inside, the A72 is powered by the Snapdragon 720G processor with, 6 or 8GB of RAM.

You can choose between 128 or 256GB of internal storage plus a microSD card slot. For software, the phone is running Android 11 with Samsung’s One UI 3.1 and will get three generations of OS updates and 4 years of security updates.
The A72 has a 5,000 mAh battery, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an in-display fingerprint sensor and IP67 water and dust resistance.

On the camera side, the A72 is rocking four of them, one 64MP main lens, 12MP wide-angle, 8MP Telephoto with 3x Optical Zoom and a 5MP macro. The selfie camera is 32MP.

Like the A52 and A52 5G, the Galaxy A72 comes in a few colours including, Awesome Black, Awesome White, Awesome Blue and Awesome Violet.

Pricing & Availability

The only pricing currently available is European pricing. The A52 goes for €350 (around $519 CAD), the A52 5G is €430 (around $638 CAD), while the A72 is €450 (around $668 CAD).
For comparison, the A51 retailed for $479 CAD and the A71 was sold for $599 CAD.
Update – March 19th, 2021: Samsung Canada has confirmed that the A52 5G along with the A32 5G are set to launch in Canada. Meanwhile, the standard A52 and A72 won’t be coming here.
Canadian pricing and release dates for the A52 5G and A32 still haven’t been announced.
