OnePlus has announced a partnership with Swedish camera manufacturer, Hasselblad to co-develop camera systems for future flagship devices.
The partnership between the two companies is set to be three years. The two companies will work together to improve OnePlus’ camera software including colour tuning, sensor collaboration and more.

computational photography and Hasselblad’s rich aesthetic knowledge in traditional photography, I am confident that the OnePlus 9 Series will be a major leap forward in our ability to deliver a premium, flagship camera.”
This isn’t the first time that Hasselblad has worked on a smartphone product. They previously launched the Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod for the Moto Z back in 2016.
In addition to the partnership, OnePlus has they’ll be investing more than $150 million over the next three years to build out its mobile imaging capabilities to help with “its ongoing pursuit of delivering the best smartphone camera experience for its users.”
The first devices to use the new Hasselblad Camera for Mobile system will the OnePlus 9 series.
The OnePlus 9 series’ camera will include the new Hasselblad Pro Mode which should bring more accurate and natural colour along with a new user interface.
In terms of the sensor, the OnePlus 9 series will be using a custom Sony IMX789 sensor, which supports 12-bit RAW photos, 4K 120fps video and 8K 30fps video recording.
The OnePlus 9 series will be unveiled at a global launch event on March 23rd at 10 AM ET via www.oneplus.com/launch.
