Acura has taken the wraps off their fourth-gen MDX for the 2022 model year.

The all-new MDX takes inspiration from the most recent RDX with a sportier exterior.

This new fourth-generation MDX really builds on all of the values that have made MDX a perennial favourite with customers over the past 20 years,” said Tom Nguyen, MDX global development leader. By injecting higher levels of craftsmanship, performance and technology, the 2022 MDX is truly a vehicle befitting of its flagship position.”

The 2022 MDX was developed by Acura’s Precision Crafted Performance brand DNA and uses an all-new platform that is made for “new levels of performance.”

“We are very excited about building on the legacy of MDX here in Canada,” said Emile Korkor, AVP Acura Canada. ”This next generation will affirm our commitment to elevating the driving and ownership experience for Acura enthusiasts and our loyal customers.”

Powering the MDX is the Enhanced 3.5-litre V6 powertrain, which outputs 290 horsepower. For better handling, the MDX has Acura’s 4th Gen Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD).

The new MDX is on a 7cm longer wheelbase and 3.5cm wider in the front and rear, while also sitting 0.8cm lower than the previous model.

The longer wheelbase should help provide room for the 7 passengers that be seated in the MDX. There’s 1cm of additional headroom, 6cm of legroom in the third row.
