Electric vehicle startup, Rivian has announced US pricing for their upcoming electric R1S SUV and R1T pickup truck.
The vehicles were first announced back in 2018 but production on them is just about to start.
Both the R1S and R1T will be available in three configurations, Launch Edition, Adventure and Explore.
As standard, the interior of the R1S and R1T has standard surround sound, heated seats, Vegan leather seating and stitching, driver lumbar support and 100% recycled textile floor mats.
The Launch Edition of the R1S SUV has 300 miles (around 482 KM) of range, Off-Road upgrade with reinforced underbody shield, dual front bumper tow hooks and air compressor, seven-seat option, Rivian Elevation 360-degree audio, Launch Edition interior badging along with Priority delivery.
The R1T Launch Edition offers the same features and extras as the R1S but adds a Gear Guard.
Rivian will be offering a 400+ mile (around 643 KM) range option of the R1T in January 2022 and a longer range R1S will be available sometime in 2022. There will also be a 250+ mile (around 402 KM) range option of both vehicles coming at a later date.
The Adventure trim of the R1S and R1T offers the same as the Launch Edition but without the 20” All-Terrain or 22” Sport wheel upgrade, Launch Edition interior badging and Priority delivery.
Inside both vehicles, there’s a 15.6-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 6.8-inch rear touchscreen.
The R1S and R1T will come standard with capabilities for Level 3 self-driving, which is hands-off and eyes off-road, which Rivian is calling Driver+. It’ll use a combination of 12 ultrasonic sensors, 10 exterior cameras, 5 radars and high precision GPS.
In terms of pricing, the R1T Launch Edition starts at $77,500 USD while the R1S starts at $77,500.
US deliveries for both launch edition vehicles start in June 2021 for the R1T and August 2021 for the R1S. Canadian deliveries will start in November 2021.
The R1S Adventure starts at $77,500 USD and the R1S Explore starts at $70,000 USD, with both beginning deliveries in January 2022.
Meanwhile, the R1T Adventure starts at $75,000 USD and the R1T Explore starts at $67,500 USD. Deliveries start in January 2022 for both R1T models.
Canadian pricing hasn’t been announced but pre-orders for R1T and R1S begin on November 16th for preorder holder access. On November 23rd, pre-orders will open to the public.
Preorders will be available in more countries in the coming months.
A $1,500 CAD ($1,000 USD) fully refundable deposit is due at pre-order.
