Google’s new Nest Thermostat has a simpler design and cheaper price

It’s been a few years since the latest Nest Thermostat was released and today Google is a brand new one.

The design of the new Nest Thermostat is a departure from past models, it’s much more simplistic but its also made from 49% recycled post-consumer plastic.

While there’s no touchscreen or rotating ring on the new model, the right side is touch-sensitive, allowing you to adjust the temperature.

The new Nest Thermostat comes with a few features such as Quick Schedule to let you set custom temps at different times and on different days. The next one is Savings Finders which looks for small optimizations to help you save energy.

All the settings are controlled via the Google Home app, rather than the Nest app.

The device also uses Soli technology for motion sensing and your phone’s location to detect if you’ve left your home. And just like other Nest products, the thermostat can be controlled via the Google Assistant.

Google says the new thermostat should work with a majority of homes and can be typically installed in 30 minutes or less.

For a pop of colour,. the new Nest Thermostat comes in a few options including Snow, Charcoal, Sand and Fog.

You can pre-order the device from the Google Store, Best Buy and the Home Depot. The thermostat will ship in the next few weeks.
