Samsung announces the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition

During their Unpacked Event, Samsung has taken the wraps off its latest smartphone, the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition (FE for short).

 

“We are constantly speaking to our fans and taking feedback, and we heard what they loved the most about our Galaxy S20 series, what features they used most often and what they would want to see in a new smartphone,” said Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business for Samsung Electronics. “The S20 FE is an extension of the Galaxy S20 family and is the start of a new way to bring meaningful innovation to even more people to let them do the things they love with the best of Galaxy.”

The Galaxy S20 FE has a 6.5-inch flat FHD+ Infinity-O display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 and a 120Hz refresh rate. The original S20 series offered a Quad HD+ resolution.

Powering the phone is the Snapdragon 865 processor 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Storage options include up to 256GB with a microSD card slot.

The battery in the Galaxy S20 FE is 4,500 mAh and the phone support Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and Fast Wired Charging. The phone does also supports 5G networks and has an in-display optical fingerprint sensor.

For cameras, the Galaxy S20 FE has a 12MP ultra-wide, 12MP wide-angle and 8MP telephoto and there’s 30x Space Zoom. The front camera is 32MP, which should be great for selfies.

The phone is running Android 10 and is IP68 water and dust resistance.

The Galaxy S20 FE comes in a number of colours (depending on market and carrier) including Cloud Red, Cloud Orange, Cloud Lavender, Cloud Mint, Cloud Navy, and Cloud White.

The Galaxy S20 FE is set to launch on October 16th in Canada for $949 CAD ($699 USD). Pre-orders for the Galaxy S20 FE start on October 1st from Samsung’s website.
