Nomad’s AirPower alternative is now available for pre-order

Accessory maker, Nomad has officially launched their Base Station Pro, which is the closest we’ll get to Apple’s AirPower.

The new Base Station Pro looks Nomad’s previous Base Station with its slim profile and padded leather surface.

Inside is where the 18 charging coils live so you have the full surface of the charger to wirelessly charge up to 3 devices at the same time. Because of all the coils, you don’t need to place your device perfectly, you can place it wherever.

Nomad teamed up wth Aira and is using their FreePower technology to achieve multi-device charging on such a large surface area.

One downside is that the charger supports up to 7.5W speeds, while some of Nomad’s other wireless chargers support up to 10W but the slower speed is to help with minimizing the risk of devices getting too hot.

The charger comes with a 30W USB-C PD power supply with international adapters included. There are also LED charging indicators to know when your device is charging.

The software running on the Base Station Pro currently is compatible with iPhone, AirPods Pro and AirPods with Wireless Charging Case and Samsung Galaxy S10 and S20 phones.

Support for Google devices like the Pixel 3/3 XL, 4/4 XL, new Pixel Buds and other Qi-enabled devices is coming soon. You’ll be able to update the Base Station Pro via a FreePower app on Mac and PC.

The Base Station Pro is available for pre-order now from Nomad’s website for $229 USD. Nomad is shipping orders of the charger in batches with batch 1 set for early September and batch 2 currently set for late September.
