LG Canada has revealed when their latest phone, the Velvet 5G will be coming to Canada.
“The LG Velvet 5G ushers in a new naming convention and refreshed elegance to mobile devices in Canada,” said Varun Kalia, Head of Mobile at LG Electronics Canada. “It offers unique features and performance, including 5G-readiness, in a stylish package. Not only does it look good, but it also feels good in your hand giving Canadians both form and function.”

The LG Velvet is being powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 5G processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot.
The phone has a 6.8-inch FHD+ P-OLED Cinematic FullVision Display just like the V60 ThinQ from earlier this year.
The battery in the Velvet is 4,300 mAh with fast charging and wireless charging support. The phone also comes Bluetooth 5.1, 3.5mm headphone jack, IP68 water and dust resistance and Android 10 with LG’s UI on top. There’s also an in-display fingerprint sensor.
For cameras, the Velvet has a 48MP standard lens, 8MP wide and 5MP depth sensor. The front camera on the phone is 16MP.

The LG Velvet will be launching on August 7th with pre-orders beginning today from LG’s website. If you pre-order the Velvet between July 16th and August 6th, you’ll get a $200 CAD Visa gift card and LG’s Tone Free (FN6) wireless earbuds.
The phone will be available in Aurora Gray and Illusion Sunset colours.
The company hasn’t announced Canadian pricing yet but Bell’s website says it’ll retail for $750 CAD off-contract. While Freedom Mobile is offering the LG Velvet for $600 CAD off-contract.
Update – August 7th, 2020: The LG Velvet is now available in Canada. Most carriers in Canada are offering the Velvet on a $0 contract rather than outright/off-contract.
