We’re just a few months away from the launch of the next-gen consoles and today, Microsoft showed off what some of their first-party studios are working on including Halo Infinite, a new Fable, and more.
The company showed off a wide variety of games from big-budget titles to smaller indie games, so there should be a game for everyone.
One thing to note is that all the titles that Microsoft showed off at their showcase will be part of Xbox Game Pass.
Halo Infinite
The next entry in the Halo series was announced back in 2018 but we didn’t get our first look from the game until E3 2019.
Halo Infinite will feature “new gameplay mechanics, bigger battles, epic vistas and more complex visual effects than ever before”, all at 60 frames per second. Microsoft hasn’t said if that 60 fps is at full 4K resolution.
Halo Infinite is set in 2021 and will be available for Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC.
Update – August 11th, 2020: Halo Infinite has been delayed to 2021. This article has been updated to reflect that.
Forza Motorsport (Xbox Series X)
While we didn’t get a Forza Motorsport 8 last year, Turn 10 Studios is hard at work on a next-gen version of Forza Motorsport for Xbox Series X.
The game will run at 4K 60fps during connected and dynamic scenes. Ray tracing in the game will bring things like surfaces of cars reflecting off each other, light and shadow interplay, and more.
This new Forza Motorsport will be coming to Xbox Series X and PC but no release date was announced.
Fable
It’s been a few years since the last Fable game but the series is back and this time it’s being developed by Playground Games, the team behind the Forza Horizon series.
According to Microsoft, the game is about: A new beginning for the legendary franchise. Explore a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places.
The upcoming Fable game will be releasing on Xbox Series X and PC.
Avowed
Following the release of The Outer Worlds last year, Avowed is the next first-person RPG from Obsidian Entertainment (which Microsoft acquired in 2018) that takes place in the fantasy world of Eora.
Not much is know about Avowed by the game will be coming to Xbox Series X and PC.
State of Decay 3
State of Decay 3 is the next entry in the series by Undead Labs that will put a bigger focus on horror elements.
In addition to some of the reveals, existing titles like Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, Gears Tactics, Ori, and the Will of the Wisps and Sea of Thieves will be launching optimized for Xbox Series X at launch via Smart Delivery.
Here’s a list of some of the games coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC in the coming year and beyond.
