One of Huawei’s latest flagship Android smartphone, the P40 Pro has officially launched in Canada.
“The HUAWEI P40 Series redefines mobile photography once again,” said Kevin Li, President, Huawei Canada Consumer Business Group. “We are thrilled to bring Canadians a flagship that offers the power and versatility of a pro DSLR paired with a stunning innovative design and the ecosystem of the future with HUAWEI AppGallery.”
The P40 Pro has a 6.58-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It’s also IP68 water and dust resistant.
Powering the P40 Pro is Huawei’s Kirin 990 5G processor with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
“This year marks an important milestone for Huawei’s device business in Canada. Since launching the HUAWEI P10 Series here in 2017, we have expanded our product lineup in Canada to include our five key consumer product categories: Smartphones, PC, Wearables, Tablets and Audio,” said Radek Krasny, Huawei Consumer Business Group’s Director of Marketing & Brand.
The phone has a 4,200 mAh battery with Huawei SuperCharge (up to 40W). There’s also support Wireless Huawei SuperCharge (up to 27W on compatible chargers) along with reverse wireless charging.
The P40 Pro is running Android 10 with Huawei’s EMUI on top and because of ongoing disputes between the US and China, the P40 Pro doe not have access to the Google Play Store.
You’ll have to instead rely on Huawei’s AppGallery, which has slowly been growing and includes such apps as Microsoft Office, Snapchat and Accuweather.
For the cameras, the P40 Pro features a 50MP Ultra Vision wide-angle lens, 40MP Cine Camera ultra-wide lens, 12MP SuperSensing Telephoto camera and 3D Depth Sensing Camera.
Huawei has also recently added Petal Search, which allows users to find, download and update apps on their Huawei devices.
You can purchase the P40 Pro from the following carriers and retailers in Canada.
- Virgin Mobile
- The Mobile Shop
- The Source
- Vision Electronics
The Canadian MSRP of the P40 Pro is $1,499 CAD or as low as $0 on a two-year contract. The P40 and P40 Pro Plus will be launching in Canada at a later date. The standard P40 will cost $849 CAD.
As a bonus, Huawei is offering their Watch GT2 and 50GB of cloud storage with each P40 Pro purchase.
