2K Games and developer Hangar 13 have announced the Mafia: Trilogy.
The collection brings together all three Mafia games but updated for current-gen consoles.
The Mafia: Definitive Edition is a built-from-the-ground up remake of the original game. The first Mafia came out in 2002 for the PS2 and original Xbox.
“The original Mafia made such a lasting impact on how video games can tell serious stories, and we know how much the series’ fans still revere it,” said Haden Blackman, President and CCO at Hangar 13, who led the development of Mafia: Definitive Edition across the studio’s offices in Brno and Prague, Czech Republic; Brighton, United Kingdom; and Novato, Calif. “Nearly 20 years after the Mafia series started, we now have an amazing opportunity to introduce this beloved game to a new generation of players and give longtime fans a chance to relive Tommy’s story with a stellar modern presentation, as well as new story elements and gameplay features.”
Mafia II: Definitive Edition is a remaster of the game that brings the visuals up to 4K resolution, the original Mafia 2 launched in 2010. While the Mafia III: Definitive Edition is more of a reintroduction of the game from 2016.
PC Players that own Mafia 2 on Steam will automatically be upgraded to the Mafia II: Definitive Edition at no cost. And players on PS4, Xbox One or PC that own Mafia III will be upgraded to the Mafia III: Definitive Edition at no additional cost.
