During a livestream, Sony has officially unveiled the PS5 hardware along with games coming to the console.
The box itself is quite a departure from past PlayStation consoles, which had a more boxy/squarish design. The PS5’s design is much more rounded and uses the same black/white/blue colour scheme found on the new DualSense controller.
From the video that Sony showed off, we can see that the PS5 will have a USB-C and USB-A port on the front of the console and can be placed in a vertical orientation with a stand.
The PlayStation 5 uses custom CPU based on AMD’s Ryzen line and a GPU using their Navi lineup.
The upcoming console will feature a next-gen solid-state drive (SSD), can read 100GB Blu-ray discs and the console can be used as a 4K Blu-ray player. There will also be support for ray-tracing and 8K video output.

Sony won’t be just launching one PS5 console, they’ll also be a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition (similar to Microsoft’s Xbox One S All-Digital Edition) that is slightly slimmer but with a disc-tray.
What would any console launch be without accessories and Sony has got you covered there with the DualSense Charging Station, HD Camera, Pulse 3D Wireless Headset and Media Remote.
Sony hasn’t announced a release date or price yet for the PS5 other than “Holiday 2020”. But we’ll find out those details in the months leading up to launch.
In addition to showing off the PS5 console, Sony also announced what games are coming to PS5.
