Warner Bros. has announced that Scoob! will be coming straight to video on demand next month.
“While we’re all eager to be able to once again show our films in theatres, we’re navigating new, unprecedented times which call for creative thinking and adaptability in how we distribute our content,” said Ann Sarnoff, Chair and CEO, Warner Bros. “We know fans are eager to see Scoob! and we’re delighted we can deliver this feel-good movie for families to enjoy while they’re home together.”
The film was originally set for a theatrical release in May but was delayed indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak. And now Warner Bros. is skipping a theatrical release altogether for Scoob!
According to Warner Bros.
The first full-length animated Scooby-Doo adventure for the big screen is the never-before-told stories of Scooby-Doo’s origins and the greatest mystery in the career of Mystery Inc. “SCOOB!” reveals how lifelong friends Scooby and Shaggy first met and how they joined with young detectives Fred, Velma, and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc. Now, with hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this global “dogpocalypse,” the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.
The main voice cast includes Frank Welker (who was and still is the current voice of Fred in Scooby-Doo cartoons) as Scooby-Doo, Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part) as Shaggy, Zac Efron (The Greatest Showman, Neighbors franchise) as Fred, Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia! films) as Daphne, Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) as Velma.

The film is directed by Tony Cervone, who has worked on previous Warner Bros. Animation projects such as Duck Dodgers, Space Jam, The Looney Tunes Show, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated and more.
