HTC Vive has launched its Vive Cosmos Elite headset today and it comes with a copy of Valve’s Half-Life: Alyx.
“Since we introduced VIVE, the industry has clamoured for a seminal VR title,” said Yves Maître, CEO, HTC. “With Half-Life: Alyx, we believe Valve is delivering the experience and expertise to move VR gameplay forward. Congratulations to the Valve team on the upcoming launch.”
The Vive Cosmos Elite was announced back in February and is a PC-based headset with a 2880 x 1700 combined resolution screens and External Tracking Faceplate.
The External Tracking Faceplate works with Vive Base Stations 1.0 and 2.0 for inside out tracking.

“There are few franchises that capture the hearts and minds of gamers around the world like Half-Life and we can’t wait to show our customers what awaits them when paired with Vive Cosmos Elite,” said Dan O’Brien, General Manager of North America, HTC Vive. “We know our customers are going to love the experience of playing on Vive Cosmos Elite from visuals to the ability to quickly flip up in and out of VR.”
The Vive Cosmos Elite bundles come with the External Tracking Faceplate, 2 SteamVR base stations and two Vive controllers.
The Vive Cosmos Elite costs $1,199 CAD ($899 USD) and is shipping today. A digital code for Half-Life: Alyx will be included in the box of each headset.
Half-Life: Alyx is set to launch on March 23rd and will be playable on a number of VR platforms including HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality and Valve’s Index headset.
