LG’s 2020 Gram laptops are faster, lighter and have better battery life

LG has announced its 2020 refresh of their gram series of laptops with the new gram 14, gram 15 and gram 17.

The LG gram 14 (model 14Z90N) offers a 14-inch Full HD IPS display and weighs only 999g (2.2lbs) in a 13.3-inch body.  While the LG gram 15 (model 15Z90N) has a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display and weighs around 1120g (2.47lbs)in a 14-inch body.

The bigger LG gram 17 (model 17Z90N) has a 17-inch WQXGA IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and weighs 1350g (2.98lbs).

“The LG gram series continues to lead the industry in delivering beyond expectations when it comes to portability without sacrifice,” said Jang Ik-hwan, head of LG’s IT business division. “Historically, customers had to choose one feature among performance, portability and battery life. LG gram is proof that this adage is no longer true.”

For ports, the laptops come with a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, three USB 3.1 ports, HDMI, microSD card slot and headphone/mic jack.

There’s also Wi-Fi 6 support, a fingerprint sensor and a backlit keyboard on each model. To help things running smoothly, LG is using its Mega Cooling System to keep the laptops running cool and quiet in all use cases.

Powering the 2020 gram laptops are the 10th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Plus Graphics ad up to 24GB of RAM (1 onboard and 1 slot).

“The LG gram is the ultimate solution for anyone looking for maximum productivity in a sleek and portable form factor,” said Scott Thomas, Vice President Business Solutions, LG Electronics. “With the LG gram, Canadians no longer need to sacrifice a larger screen for portability and with its durable metal body it can go anywhere – to the office, school or while travelling.”

LG hasn’t specified how much storage the laptops come with but they do have M.2 Dual SSD NVMe slots. There’s also Wi-Fi 6 support for better wireless connectivity.

The gram 15 and gram 17 have an 80Wh battery while the gram 14 has a 72Wh battery.

The LG gram laptops will range between $1,599 CAD and $2,199 CAD. The laptops will be available for purchase online from Costco, Best Buy Canada and Canada Computers in the coming weeks.
