Sony’s latest wireless earbuds, the WF-1000XM3 has been given a firmware update that adds Alexa but also the ability to control the headset’s volume.
Back when the WF-1000XM3 earbuds launch in the summer, many noted that you couldn’t control the volume using the touch controls.
Now thanks to the 2.0.2 firmware update, you can have volume controls on your wireless earbuds. A single tap of the earbud will raise the volume and holding will lower.
It’s worth noting that the WF-1000XM3 allows for only one function per earbud. Meaning you can have one earbud’s controls for noise cancellation, voice assistant (either Google Assistant or Alexa) or playback.
In addition to the new volume controls, you can now see the battery level of the charging case via the earbuds’ app on Android or iOS.
To download the firmware update for your WF-1000XM3, connect your earbuds to your smartphone and open the Headphones Connect app.
The WF-1000XM3 is compatible with Android 5.0 or later or iOS 11 or later. The company has advised users on iOS 13.1 to update to iOS 13.2 or later.
