Earlier this year, Microsoft announced a new augmented reality game that brings Minecraft to the real world, now the game is available in early access in Canada.

At first glance, this might seem like another AR mobile game like Pokemon Go (or the countless games like it) but Minecraft has a different approach. Just like the classic Minecraft game, this smartphone game wants you to explore the world around you and find blocks and start building.

You’ll be able to place Build Plates in the real world and create amazing builds with your friends. The game also allows you to craft new items, breed mobs, grow crops and more.

Minecraft Earth uses Azure Spatial Anchors AR tracking and PlayFab integration to help bring it to life.

The game is free to play and is available on Android and iOS, as long as you’re on Android 8 or later (and supports Google’s AR series/AR Core) and iOS 10 and above, you should be good to go.

You’ll also need a Microsoft or Xbox Live (no Xbox Live Gold required to play) account to use the app.

The game is currently in early access in Canada, South Korea, Philippines, Sweden, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and Iceland. They’ll be more countries added in the coming months.
