Apple has officially announced the long rumoured successor to the AirPods, with the AirPods Pro.
“AirPods are the best-selling headphones in the world. The one-tap setup experience, incredible sound and iconic design have made them a beloved Apple product, and with AirPods Pro, we’re taking the magic even further,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “The new in-ear AirPods Pro sound amazing with Adaptive EQ, fit comfortably with flexible ear tips and have innovative Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode. We think customers are going to love this new addition to the AirPods family.”
The AirPods Pro shares a similar design to the previous model but now with in-ear tips for maximum comfort. Apple says they are using an “innovative vent system” to help equal out pressure and minimize discomfort.
The new earbuds use two microphones and software to provide Active Noise Cancellation and allow users to focus on their music.
Just like some other wireless earbuds, the AirPods Pro offers a Transparency Mode that lets you hear the environment around you while also listening to music or podcasts.
The Adaptive EQ in the AirPods Pro automatically tunes low and mid frequencies of music.
The Apple-designed H1 chip in the AirPods Pro allows you to talk to Siri hands-free, just by saying “Hey Siri.”
In terms of battery life, you can expect up to five hours of listening time, four and a half hours with ANC on. The charging case supports Qi wireless charging and offers up to 24 hours of additional listening time or 18 hours of talk time.
The Apple AirPods Pro is available for pre-order now in Canada, the US and more than 25 countries and regions across the globe.
The AirPods Pro costs $329 CAD and starts shipping on October 30th. You’ll need a device with iOS 13.2 and later, iPadOS 13.2 and later, watchOS 6.1 or later, tvOS 13.2 or macOS Catalina 10.15.1 or later.
