After what seems like a waterfall of leaks, Google has now officially taken the wraps off its latest hardware products including the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL.

Google Pixel 4 & Pixel 4 XL

This year’s Pixel 4 has a 5.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED Smooth Display with a 90Hz refresh rate and Ambient EQ. The Pixel 4 XL meanwhile has a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED display with the same high refresh rate.

Powering the devices is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with 6GB of RAM along with the Pixel Neural Core which is similar to the Pixel 3’s Visual Core chip.

The battery in the Pixel 4 is 2,800 mAh (down from 2,915 mAh in the Pixel 3) while the Pixel 4 XL has a 3,700 mAh battery (up from 3,430 mAh on the Pixel 3 XL).

There’s also 64 or 128GB of internal storage, USB-C with quick charge. Both phones come with the company’s Soli technology which can be used for face unlock and also gesture controls via Motion Sense.

For cameras, the pair of Pixels has dual cameras on the back with one 12 MP Dual-Pixel sensor and one 16MP Telephoto lens. With the telephoto lens, you can get up to 8X zoom using a combination of optical and digital zoom.

The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are the first devices to come with the next-gen version of the Google Assistant. This new version of the Assistant is up to 10 times faster and means, you won’t have to say “Hey, Google” when continuously talking to the Assistant.

In terms of pricing, the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL is as follows:

  • Pixel 4 – 64GB – $999 CAD
  • Pixel 4 – 128GB – $1,129 CAD
  • Pixel 4 XL – 64GB – $1,129 CAD
  • Pixel 4 XL – 128GB – $1,259 CAD

The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are up for pre-order in Just Black, Clearly White and Limited Edition Oh So Orange. The phones start shipping on October 24th.

Pixelbook Go

The Pixelbook Go is a sort-of successor to 2017’s Pixelbook. The laptop has a 13.3-inch touchscreen that can be optioned with at Full HD or 4K resolution.

There are two front-firing speakers, two mics on the front of the device, two USB-C ports, headphone jack. It can be equipped with an Intel Core m3, Core i5 or Core i7 and up to 16GB of RAM.

It comes in Just Black and Not Pink colour options. The new laptop starts at $879 CAD and ships later this month.

Nest Wifi

Now that Google and Nest are under one roof, the company has refreshed some of their existing products like the Google Wifi, now called Nest Wifi.

The Nest Wifi is a mesh-router system, with the two-pack offering coverage in a house up to 3,800 sq-ft and a three-pack for even more coverage.

Best of all, the Nest Wifi also has a speaker built-in like the new Nest Mini (formerly Google Home Mini), so you can the Google Assistant questions.

The Nest Wifi starts shipping on November 4th and costs $269 CAD for one and $349 CAD for a a two-pack.

Nest Mini

The Nest Mini is the new Google Home Mini and it’s been given better internals including a better speaker. The speaker in the Nest Mini has twice as much bass.

The speaker also has a built-in wall mount and comes in Chalk, Charcoal, Coral and Sky.

The Nest Mini starts shipping on October 22nd for $69 CAD.

Nest Hub Max

Google has announced that its Nest Hub Max is now available in Canada. The device has a 10-inch HD screen and a built-in camera that can be used as a Nest Cam.

The Nest Hub Max costs $299 CAD and is available from the Google Store, Best Buy Canada and select retailers.

Nest Aware

In early 2020, Nest Aware will be getting a revamp. The service will now include smart speakers like the new Nest Mini, Google Home, Google Home Max, Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max and Nest Wifi.

The two plans are Nest Aware which includes 30 days of event video history for $8 CAD per month or Nest Aware Plus for 60 days of event video history and 27/7 video history for $16 CAD per month.

Pixel Buds (2nd Gen)

The Pixel Buds are now truly wireless and offer up to 5 hours of listening time and 24 hours more with the charging case. The charging case can also be charged wirelessly.

The 2nd gen Pixel Buds lets you talk to the Google Assistant hands-free. The earbuds will be coming to Canada but they’ll arrive in the US first in early 2020 for $179 USD.

They’ll be available in four colours, Almost Black, Quite Mint, Clearly White and Oh So Orange.
