At their Surface Event in New York, Microsoft took the wraps off the latest Surface products including the Surface Neo, Surface Duo and many more.

Surface Neo and Surface Duo

The Surface Neo and Surface Duo are Microsoft’s first foray into foldable devices.

The Surface Neo is a dual-screen device with a 360-degree full-friction hinge that combines two 9-inch screens to make a 13-inch display. The company says the Neo has the thinnest LCD display in it’s class.

Like other Surface devices, the Surface Neo works with the Surface Pen. It’s running a special version of Windows 10 called Windows 10X that was designed for foldable devices in mind.

The Surface Duo is smaller than the Neo and has two paper-thin 5.6-inch screen that combines together make up an 8.3-inch display. The Duo is much more portable and can easily fit in your pocket.

The Duo is running Android instead of Windows 10X.

Both the Surface Duo and Surface Neo are set to launch by Holiday 2020.

Microsoft is working with OEMs such as Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo to create foldable devices running Windows 10X.

Surface Laptop 3

Microsoft has updated its Surface Laptop line with the new Surface Laptop 3. The device now comes in a 13.5-inch and 15-inch touchscreen option with the same PixelSense Display technology as before.

The 13.5-inch Surface Laptop 3 is running the 10th Gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processor with Intel Iris Graphics 950. While the 15-inch model uses AMD Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 chips with AMD Radeon 9 or 11 Graphics.

The commercial version of the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 can be optioned with 10th Gen Intel chips.

Both laptops offer up to 11.5 hours of battery life and there’s Fast Charging to get you 80% battery life in one hour. There’s also Windows Hello login support.

For storage options, there’s 128, 256, 512 or 1TB SSD and up to 16GB of RAM for the 13.5-inch and only up to 512GB SSD and 32GB of RAM on the 15-inch but the M.2 NVME SSD is removable.

The laptops also come in new colours including Sandstone in addition to Matte Black, Cobolt Blue and Platinum. There’s also a new metal keyboard style in addition to Alcantara

The ports include 1 USB-C, 1 USB-C, 3.5mm headphone jack and a Surface Connect port. As with most Surface products, the Surface Laptop 3 is compatible with the Surface Pen and offers 4096 levels of pressure.

The Surface Laptop 3 13″ starts at $1,349 CAD ($999 USD) and the Surface Laptop 3 15″ starts $1,599 CAD ($1,199 USD).

Canadian pricing is as follows for the Surface Laptop 3 13.5″.

Surface Pro 7

The Surface Pro 7 has now been updated with the latest 10th Gen Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors. It comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to a 1TB SSD.

The Surface Pro 7 supports Wi-Fi 6, offers up to 10.5 hours of battery life with Fast Charging to get you 80% in one hour. There’s also Windows Hello login support.

For ports on the Surface Pro 7, it has a USB-A, USB-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, Mini DisplayPort, Surface Connect, MicroSD card reader and a Surface Type Cover.

The Surface Pro 7 starts at $749 USD and starts shipping on October 22nd.

Surface Pro X

The Surface Pro X is “the thinnest Surface yet”, at just 7.3mm thin. It has a 13-inch PixelSense touch Display with a 3:2 aspect ratio.

Powering the Surface Pro X is the custom ARM-based Microsoft SQ1 chip with the Adreno 685 iGPU and up to 16GB of RAM. It comes with up to a 512GB SSD that is removable.

You can expect up to 13 hours of battery life on the Surface Pro X along with Fast Charging for 80% battery in one hour. There’s Windows Hello login support.

Ports include 2 USB-C, Surface Connect and Surface Keyboard connector port.

The Surface Pro X Signature Keyboard has a version of the Surface Pen called the Surface Slim Pen that is stored securely and recharges in the keyboard cover.

The Surface Slim Pen will work with existing devices including the Surface Pro 5, Surface Pro 6, Surface Pro 7, Surface Book 2 (13 and 15-inch models), Surface Go, Studface Studio and Surface Studio 2 via a future firmware update.

The pen is up for pre-order now from the Microsoft Storey for $179 CAD and starts shipping on November 5th.

Surface Earbuds

Following the Surface Headphones, the company has introduced the Surface Earbuds. These are premium true wireless earbuds that use Omnisonic sound for an immersive experience.

The earbuds seamlessly integrate with Office 365, so you can keep track of your Outlook calendar, listen and reply to emails and talk to Cortana or your favourite voice assistant.

Surface Earbuds

The Surface Earbuds offer up to 8 hours of battery life on a single charge and 24 hours with the charging case. A 10-minute charge (vis USB-C) will get you one hour of battery life.

The earbuds are IPX4 waterproof and work with Android, iOS and Windows 10 devices.

The Surface Earbuds costs $249 USD and Canadian pricing is to be confirmed.
