Asus has made a couple of announcements during IFA 2019 in Berlin, including the ROG Zephyrus S GX701, StudioBook Series and much more.
ROG Zephyrus S GX701
The ROG Zephyrus S GX701 has the trademark look of past ROG laptops but now the device can be equipped with an ultrafast display.
The laptop comes with a display with a 300Hz refresh rate, which will help with an improved visual experience when gaming and 3.3ms of response time.
The ROG Zephyrus S GX701 will come with the Nvidia RTX 2080 GPU and offer HDR support in the display.
Asus says its ROG Zephyrus S GX701 will be available in Canada sometime in 2020. No pricing has been announced.
Glacier Blue colour option for ROG Laptops
The company also announced a new colour option for some of their ROG laptops. The new Glacier Blue offers a hint of blue and silver and will be available alongside the black version of the ROG Zephyrus S GX502, Zephyrus M GU502, and ROG Strix G G531 and G731.
The new colour option for the laptops listed above will come to Canada later this year.
ROG Phone II Ultimate Edition
Asus has also announced an updated version of their ROG Phone II, now with an Ultimate Edition.
Specs are mostly unchanged in the ROG Phone II Ultimate Edition apart from the now 1TB UFS 3.0 of storage compared to 128 and 512GB on the original.
The ROG Phone II has a 6.59-inch display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate. The back of the device features the ROG logo that has RGB backlighting.
Powering this beast of a phone is the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor with up to 12GB of RAM.
The phone comes with a USB-C port and headphone jack on the bottom and another USB-C port on the side of the phone for accessory support.
There’s also a 6,000 mAh battery that should easily last more than a day or so and the dual-cameras on the back are 48-megapixels and 13-megapixels.
The ROG Phone II is set to launch at the end of September while the Ultimate Edition of the phone is coming at a later date.
In addition to the ROG Phone II variant, Asus announced a couple of partnership with Capcom, Gameloft, Madfinger Games and Blazing Games Inc.
Each ROG Phone II will come pre-installed with an optimized version of Gameloft’s Asphalt 9: Legends. This version works with Asus’ TwinView Dock II and Dual Surrounding Vibration.
Madfinger Games’ Shadowgun Legends will be optimized for the ROG Phone II and Blazing Games’ Project Vega game will launch in 2020 with support for the ROG Phone II.
And starting on September 12th, ROG Phone II users can participate in Capcom’s closed beta test for Rockman X DiVE.
10th Gen Intel comes to ZenBook series & AsusPro B9
Asus has announced that some of their laptops will be updated to 10th Gen Intel Core processors.
These laptops include the AsusPro B9 (B9450), ZenBook Duo (UX481), ZenBook 13/14/15 (UX334/434/534) and ZenBook Flip 14/15 (UX463/563).
The AsusPro B9 is one of the lightest 14-inch business laptops coming in at just 880g.
It’ll be powered by the 10th Gen Intel Core i7 and have a 14-inch display with a 94% screen-to-body ratio in a 13-inch profile. It also has Wi-Fi 6 (GIG+ 802.11ax) and Thunderbolt 3 ports.
The ZenBook 13/14/15 comes with Asus’ ScreenPad 2.0, Intel Wi-Fi 6, 10th Gen Intel Core i7, PCIe SSDs and Nvidia MX250 graphics.
The new ZenBook 13/14/15 (UX334/434/534) will be available in Canada in 2020.
Asus also announced a new mesh Wi-Fi system called ZenWiFi. The system uses two Asus AX6600 tri-band routers using Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) technology.
The ZenWiFi XT8 can provide a total data rate of up to 6600Mbps and uses a combination of OFDMA and MU-MIMO technology for up to 4X network capacity and 2.2X faster transmissions.
The ZenWiFi also comes with AiProtection powered by Trend Micro to help protect your devices from external attacks and threats.
A Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) version of ZenWiFi (the CT8) will be available alongside the Wi-Fi 6 version but comes with two Asus AC3000 tri-band routers instead.
No word if the ZenWiFi (either model) will be coming to Canada.
ProArt StudioBook Series
The company also announced the new ProArt StudioBook Series. These laptops were made form graphics professionals, digital artist, animators, architects and programmers.
The flagship 15-inch ProArt StudioBook One (W590) has up to an Intel Core i9-9980HK processor along with Nvidia Quadro RTX 6000 graphics with 24GB of GDDR6 VRAM.
The display is 15.6-inches and 4K with 100% Adobe RGB, Pantone Validated and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
There are 3 Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports with DisplayPort 1.4 and DC-in for power. The laptop also comes with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD.
The ProArt StudioBook Pro X (W730) offers a 17-inch display, up to 6TB of storage, 128GB RAM, Intel Core i7-9750H processor and Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000 graphics.
The ProArt StudioBook series of laptops is set to launch in Canada in Q4 2019.
