Netflix has officially released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming The Witcher series based on the novels and games.
Here’s the company’s description of The Witcher series:
Based on the best-selling fantasy series of books, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
Henry Cavill (Mission Impossible – Fallout, Justice League) plays Geralt of Rivia, with Anya Cholatra (The ABC Murders, Wanderlust) as Yennefer and Freya Allan (The War of the Worlds, Into The Badlands) as Ciri.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s The Defenders, Umbrella Academy) will serve as showrunner and executive producer for the series, alongside Alik Sakharov (House of Cards, Game of Thrones) and will direct 4 episodes.
Alex Garcia Lopez (Marvel’s Luke Cage, Utopia) and Charlotte Brändström (Outlander, Counterpart, Disparue) will direct 2 episodes each.
The Witcher series hits Netflix on December 20th.
