Razer has been making gaming focused accessories for a long time, from keyboard and mice to headsets. But since the introduction of their first phone, the aptly names Razer Phone in 2017, the company has been delving into smartphone accessories. One of which is their Hammerhead USB-C ANC earbuds.

The Razer Hammerhead USB-C ANC earbuds have a premium look and feel with a braided cable and inline remote that has metal accents. The remote has three buttons for play/pause, volume up and down and also a switch that lets you turn off/on the Active Noise Cancellation.

The earbuds sound great and that’s thanks in part to the Dual Driver technology which Razer says has a combination of balanced armature and dynamic drivers. That combination will help produce a great balance of deep bass and detailed trebles.

Since the Hammerhead USB-C ANC earbuds connect via USB-C, they come with a built-in digital-to-audio converter (DAC) that provides 24 bit/96 kHz audio quality.

Each of the earbuds has Razer’s signature logo on them that light up when you’re using the earbuds with your phone.

In the box, you get a carry case, multiple ear tip sizes from small to large and a pair of Comply Foam Tips which are designed for maximum comfort. The default earbud tips I found fit in my ears but kept slipping out, which is not something you’ll want on a pair of noise-cancelling earbuds. So I ended up putting the one size smaller and that helped the earbuds fit easier.

One thing to note is that I found the earbud tips on the Hammerhead USB-C ANC earbuds very difficult to put on, yet very easy to take off.

The Hammerhead USB-C ANC earbuds worked with a number of phones including the Pixel 3 XL, OnePlus 7 Pro, HTC U12+.

The Hammerhead USB-C ANC earbuds are available now from Razer’s website for $134.99 CAD, which is fairly pricey for a pair of earbuds. But you are getting compatibility with your USB-C devices and Active Noise Cancellation.
