Ecobee has announced a new version of their smart thermostat simply called SmartThermostat.

Previous Ecobee thermostats used to be numbered but that changes with the new model.

“We see the smart home emerging as an oasis where great technology can fade into the background and free you from the chaos of everyday life.” said ecobee President and CEO, Stuart Lombard. “We’ve designed the new ecobee SmartThermostat with voice control to be the foundation of that vision. It’s packed with more power than ever before to deliver a best-in-class user experience and effortlessly connect you to the solutions and services you love, but also work quietly in the background so you can focus on the things – and people – that matter most.“

The new Ecobee SmartThermostat comes with the company’s iconic squircle design but now with a glass panel on top of the LCD screen. There is also 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual-band Wi-Fi support and high-quality speaker and Bluetooth support so you can listen to music on the Ecobee SmartThermostat.

As mentioned earlier, the Ecobee SmartThermostat has voice control via Amazon Alexa, so not only can you control your thermostat using Alexa but also control your other smart home devices.

The device features a quad-core processor that is used for advanced machine learning and AI for more improved natural language processing and speech detection.

Alongside the new thermostat is the redesigned sensor called SmartSensor. It has a state-of-the-art industrial design and an enhanced wide-angle detection range and a pairing range of up to 60 feet.

The Ecobee SmartThermostat is available now from the company’s website for $329 CAD ($249 USD). Each thermostat comes with one SmartSenor with packs of two costing $89 CAD ($79 USD) additionally.

It’s also available for purchase from Amazon, Lowes, Home Depot and Best Buy.
