Amazon has announced a new addition to the Echo Show family with the Echo Show 5.
While the name is slightly misleading since there have only been two Echo Show devices so far, the new Echo Show 5 is the third and comes with a 5.5-inch display.
“Since we launched the first Echo Show device, customers have told us they love asking Alexa to show them things—whether it’s a recipe for banana bread, their shopping list, or music lyrics. With Echo Show 5, we’ve made it even easier and affordable for customers to add a smart display to every room of their house,” said Tom Taylor, Senior Vice President, Amazon Alexa. “The compact form factor is perfect for a bedside table or desk, plus it has a camera shutter for added peace of mind, and new Alexa privacy features for even more control.”
The Echo Show 5 also has a built-in camera (with a privacy shutter), microphone/camera off button and microphones for talking to Alexa.
Just like other Echo Show devices, the new Echo Show 5 can let you stream video from Prime Video, control your smart home devices, make video calls and can be customized with all-new clock faces.
For those who are conscious of your privacy, you can now ask your Alexa-enabled devices to delete your voice recordings just by saying, “Alexa, delete everything I said today.” And later on, you’ll be able to delete your last request by uttering, “Alexa, delete what I just said.”
The Echo Show 5 is available for pre-order now for $99 CAD ($89 USD) in Canada, US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, New Zealand, Australia on June 26th. It’ll come to India in July and Mexico in the coming months.
The device comes in two colours, Charcoal (black) and Sandstone (white). Amazon will also be offering a magnetic stand for $29 CAD ($19 USD) that lets you tilt the device to adjust viewing and camera angles.
