2019 Accessories Accessory Review OnePlus OnePlus Explorer Reviews

OnePlus Explorer Backpack Review

While OnePlus may be known for their “flagship killer” smartphones, the company has also been venturing into accessories from earbuds and chargers to more recently apparel and now backpacks.

I’ve been testing out the OnePlus Explorer backpack for a few weeks and it’s easily one of the best travel backpacks you can get.

The OnePlus Explorer has a very minimalist design with a small OnePlus logo on the front flap. The exterior of the backpack is made from Cordura fabric which makes it water resistant, so you can easily take the bag out in the rain and your items won’t get wet.

OnePlus sent the Morandi Green colour option of the Explorer backpack but in-person, its more of a greenish grey colour than green.

At the bottom of the bag is where you’ll find a pouch is lined with water-resistant material (almost like a rain jacket type material). This pouch is perfect for an umbrella or a water bottle. The front also has a zipper pocket that is great for small items.

The main section of the backpack has a clasp that you unlock by just pulling on the front tab. There’s also a zipper to help keep everything inside protected in addition the flap on the front.

Inside the main part of the bag, you’ll find another zipper pocket and a laptop/tablet compartment. Closer to the back of the bag, you’ll find another laptop slot and a smaller zipper pocket that can be used to keep your phone or valuable personal belongings. You can fit up to a 15-inch laptop in the backpack, I was able to easily fit my 13-inch MacBook Pro.

The OnePlus Explorer is very comfortable to wear with a lot of padding on the shoulder straps (and Dupont Kevlar fibre sewing) and are adjustable. The backpack weighs about 840 or 860g (depending on which colour you get) when you don’t have anything in it and there are a total of 3 compartments and 8 pockets.

The OnePlus Explorer is available in two colours, Slate Black and Morandi Green. One thing to note is that the backpack is currently available from OnePlus’ website for $129 CAD but only via invite code.

  • Water-resistant exterior
  • Premium materials
  • Great padding and comfortable to wear
  • Lots of space and pockets

  • Can only currently be bought via invite code
  • The clasp doesn’t always close
