You won’t have to wait much longer to visit a Galaxy, Far, Far, Away, as Disney has officially announced when the much anticipated, Star Wars: Galaxy Edge is set to open at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.
Disneyland’s version of Galaxy’s Edge is set to open on May 31st while the one in Walt Disney World opens on August 29th.
Disney says it’s their largest single-themed land expansions and most ambitious project to date that will also be very immersive to guests.
When you enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, it is meant to feel like you’re stepping into the Star Wars universe. The land is themed around a new planet called Batuu.
When you arrive at Galaxy’s Edge you’ll be able to taste galactic food and beverages, explore merchant shops and climb aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, which puts you in control of the famous ship.
The other attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance won’t be ready for the opening of Galaxy’s Edge but it set to open later this year. Disney says the ride is “the most ambitious, immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined that will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance and will blur the lines between fantasy and reality.”
If you’re planning on visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland between May 31st and June 23rd, you’ll need a valid theme park admission and be required to make a no-cost reservation.
It’s worth noting that you won’t need a separate ticket to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the capacity of the new land is limited, so Disney may restrict access or make it unavailable due to guest demand and help with crowd levels.
FastPass and FastPass+ won’t be available for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at the opening of the land but might be added at a later date.
