Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+ and Galaxy Fold officially unveiled

Samsung has taken the wraps off their latest smartphones with the Galaxy Fold, S10, S10+ and S10E.

Galaxy Fold

The Galaxy Fold is the company’s first foldable smartphone with a 4.6-inch screen when folded and a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex screen when unfolded.

Since you have a lot of screen real estate to work with, you can have 3 apps open at once side-by-side.

Samsung worked with Google to develop App Continuity on the Galaxy Fold, which will let you switch between the folded and unfolded screen while staying in the same app.

The Galaxy Fold has 512GB of internal storage, 12GB of RAM and a 7-nanometer processor. In terms of battery, there are one on each side of the device.

The device has six cameras in total with 3 on the back, 2 on the inside and one on the cover.

The Galaxy Fold comes in multiple colours, Cosmos Black, Space Silver, Martial Green and Astro Blue. You can also personalize the hinge colour on the device.

It starts at $1,980 USD and will be available April 26th. Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy Fold will be coming to Canada but no Canadian pricing or release date was given.

Galaxy S10, S10E & S10+

The Galaxy S10 & S10+ retain the metal and glass design from previous devices and offer similar specs and are running Android 9 Pie.

The lower-end Galaxy S10E will have a 5.8-inch Full HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, dual-rear cameras (one wide angle and one Ultra Wide), 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 512GB of storage plus a microSD card slot, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and a 3,100 mAh battery.

The Galaxy S10 has a 6.1-inch screen with a 19:9 aspect ratio while the S10+ has a 6.4-inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Both devices are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.

The devices’ display uses Dynamic Tone Mapping which helps make the screen brighter.

Instead of a fingerprint sensor on the back, the S10 & S10+ have an Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor just like the OnePlus 6T and Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

In terms of camera, both the S10 and S10+ have a triple-camera setup with one telephoto, one wide-angle and one ultra wide. The S10 has a single front-facing camera while the S10+ has dual-cameras on the front.

You can record Super Steady & High-Quality video up to 4K UHD and HDR10+ on the S10 and S10+.

The S10 comes with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 512GB of internal storage plus a microSD slot. The S10+ comes with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and either 128GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage plus a microSD card slot.

For the battery, the S10 has a 3,400 mAh battery while the S10+ has a 4,100 mAh battery. Both devices come with Fast Charging (wired and wireless) and Wireless PowerShare, which lets you reverse wireless charge other devices.

The Galaxy S10 and S10+ will be available in multiple colours, Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Green, Prism Blue, Canary Yellow and Flamingo Pink.

Canadian will be able to get the Galaxy S10E, S10 and S10+ in Prism Black, Prism White and Prism Blue. The S10+ will also be available in Ceramic Black and Ceramic White options.

Canadian pricing is as follows:

  • Galaxy S10E (128GB) – $1,019 CAD
  • Galaxy S10E (256GB) – $1,159 CAD
  • Galaxy S10 (128GB) – $1,259 CAD
  • Galaxy S10 (512GB) – $1,589 CAD
  • Galaxy S10+ (128GB) – $1,419 CAD
  • Galaxy S10+ (512GB) – $1,749 CAD – Only available in Ceramic Black or Ceramic White options
  • Galaxy S10+ (1TB) – $2,209 CAD – Only available in Ceramic Black or Ceramic White options

The Galaxy S10, S10E and S10+ will be available starting March 8th with pre-orders beginning February 21st. You can also $200 off your new Galaxy S10E, S10 or S10+ by trading in your current phone.

Galaxy Watch Active

The Galaxy Watch Active is the successor to the Gear Sport smartwatch but packs more premium features in a sporty design.

The Galaxy Watch Active has blood pressure tracking via the My BP Lab app, fitness tracking improvements (with more than 39 activities that can be tracked). The watch is compatible with Android and iOS device with real-time coaching.

The watch has a 1.1-inch AMOLED display and is powered by the Exynos 9110 dual-core processor with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It’s also IP68 water resistant up to 5ATM  and has a 230 mAh battery.

The Galaxy Watch Active is running Tizen-based Wearable OS 4.0 and uses WPC-based wireless charging.

You can get the Galaxy Watch Active in four colours, Silver, Black, Rose Gold and Sea Green. The Galaxy Watch Active will cost $299 CAD when it launches on March 15th.

Galaxy Fit & Galaxy Fit e

The Galaxy Fit & Galaxy Fit e are designed for all types of fitness enthusiasts. Both devices will automatically start tracking your activity or manually from over 90 different activities.

The Galaxy Fit & Galaxy Fit e are water resistant of 5ATM and are compatible with Android and iOS. Canadian pricing hasn’t been announced.

Galaxy Buds

The Galaxy Buds is a refresh of the Gear IconX wireless earbuds. They are tuned by AKG and has Enhanced Ambient Display which allows you to hear your surroundings while the buds are in your ears.

There are dual microphones on each bud, one inner mic and one outer mic. You can get up to 6 hours of Bluetooth streaming and up to 5 hours of calls. The case adds up to 7 hours of additional listening time and uses USB-C.

The Galaxy Buds can get up to 1.7 hours of listening time in just 15 mins of charging. Since the Galaxy S10 and S10+ have reverse wireless charging, you can charge your Galaxy Buds using your phone while on the go.

The Galaxy Buds will cost $199 CAD ($129 USD), come in three colours, Black, White and Yellow and available on March 8th.
