Samsung and Apple have announced that an iTunes Movies & TV Shows app will be coming to both 2018 and 2019 Samsung Smart TVs.
You’ll be able to watch your existing iTunes library as well as buy and rent thousands of titles included ones in 4K HDR.
“We pride ourselves on working with top industry leaders to deliver the widest range of content services to our Smart TV platform,” said Won-Jin Lee, Executive Vice President, Service Business of Visual Display at Samsung Electronics. “Bringing more content, value and open platform functionality to Samsung TV owners and Apple customers through iTunes and AirPlay is ideal for everyone.”
The iTunes app for Samsung Smart TVs will also seamlessly integrate with Samsung services like Universal Guide, the New Bixby and Search.
Samsung will also be adding AirPlay 2 support to their Smart TVs including their QLED, 8K TVs, The Frame, The Serif and other UHD and HD models.
“We look forward to bringing the iTunes and AirPlay 2 experience to even more customers around the world through Samsung Smart TVs, so iPhone, iPad and Mac users have yet another way to enjoy all their favourite content on the biggest screen in their home,” said Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Internet Software and Services at Apple.
The new iTunes Movies and TV Shows app for Samsung Smart TVs will debut in more than 100 countries this spring. While AirPlay 2 support is coming to Samsung Smart TVs in 190 countries around the world.
