Back when Google announced the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL in October, they also announced a camera mode called Night Sight. It essentially helps make low-light photos even better.
Now, the Night Sight feature is rolling out to Pixel users. Night Sight uses machine learning to help your phone’s camera gather more light in low-light shots.
This means that you’ll be able to get brighter, detailed, low-noise and colourful shots wherever you take your Pixel.
Google says that Night Sight works best on posed pictures of people or still landscapes and cityscapes rather than shots with a lot of motion.
Some suggested uses cases for Night Sight include:
- Low-light group selfies and selfies with a beautiful city background.
- Capturing a city skyline at dusk.
- Capturing an icon like the Golden Gate Bridge at dusk
- Capture and share a photo of your baby asleep in his/her crib – without a flash that would wake him/her
- Dim restaurants, bars, and city sidewalks.
- Photos of friends and family while camping or partaking in events at dark
Night Sight is now rolling out to the camera app on all three generations of the Pixel. Once you have the update that enabled Night Sight, you can access it via the more section of the camera app.
