Back in 2017, Amazon had announced that they were going to open a second headquarters. Now the company has ended their search and announced the locations for HQ2.
Amazon’s HQ2 will be split between Long Island City and Arlington, Virginia. Both the Long Island and Arlington locations are 4 million square feet (8 million combined) and offer 25,000 new jobs each.
“We are excited to build new headquarters in New York City and Northern Virginia,” said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon. “These two locations will allow us to attract world-class talent that will help us to continue inventing for customers for years to come. The team did a great job selecting these sites, and we look forward to becoming an even bigger part of these communities.”
There will also be room for an 8 million square feet expansion at each location.
Amazon will also be opening a new Operations Center in Nashville that will a 1 million square foot office, 5,000 full-time jobs and $230 million USD in investment.
Amazon hasn’t said when the HQ2 locations are set to open but hiring will begin in 2019.
