Fossil has announced the Fossil Sport Smartwatch, which is the company’s first watch running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor and Wear OS.
”For several years, the health and wellness industry has been converging with smartwatch technology—and Fossil knew there was a tremendous opportunity to provide a connected option for the design-conscious consumer looking to bring style to their wrist. We know our consumers want versatility both in their activity and their accessories, which is why we wanted to bring a smartwatch to market that is a fit for every style,’’ says Steve Evans, EVP Fossil Group. ‘’We’re incredibly excited to be able to offer a colorful sport smartwatch with endless customization and equipped with latest Google and Qualcomm technology for a best-in-class consumer experience.”
The Fossil Sport comes in six colours and two sizes (41 and 43 mm) with a wide variety of strap options that are 18mm and 22mm.
The body is made from nylon and aluminum to make it Fossil’s lightest smartwatch to date. It has a 350 mAh battery and the Wear 3100 processor will help extend battery life.
“The smartwatch market continues to grow at a rapid pace with unprecedented innovation in the industry,” said Pankaj Kedia, senior director, product marketing, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “Over the last three years, Fossil and Qualcomm have collaborated closely to launch a series of products and have led the Wear OS by Google smartwatch segment. The Fossil Sport smartwatch represents our best efforts yet made possible through the combination of Qualcomm’s world class Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform and Fossil’s ingenious pulse of the evolving consumer needs. This smartwatch truly represents the best of technology, fashion, and fitness.”
With the Snapdragon Wear 3100, it offers a new battery saving feature that can show you just the time and make the battery last about two days longer than the standard one day.
Wear OS on the Fossil Sport has been redesigned to help you access information faster and more proactively as well as get to the Google Assistant and Google Fit easier. Google Fit now shows you stuff called Move Minutes and Heart Points which are based on health recommendations by the World Heart Organization and the American Heart Association.
The Fossil Sport also comes with a heart rate monitor, GPS, NFC and rapid charging that allows you to fully charge the watch in just an hour.
“As an early partner of Wear OS by Google, Fossil has brought to life a diverse range of beautiful smartwatches that help people stay on top of their daily lives,” said Stacey Burr, Vice President of Product Management for Wear OS by Google and Google Fit. “We’re thrilled to partner with Fossil to help people lead healthier lives with their latest Fossil Sport Smartwatch and unique watch faces designed with Google Fit.”
The watch works with iOS 9.3 and later and Android 4.4 and later (not including Go edition).
The Fossil Sport is available for purchase in the US on fossil.com for $255 USD ($335 CAD) today and coming to select Fossil retail stores globally on November 12th.
