Sony has announced an open beta that will enable cross-platform play between all the platforms Fortnite is on.

Meaning that Fortnite PS4 players will soon be able to play with those playing on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, iOS and Android.

Previously, Sony had blocked any sort-of cross-platform play and progression for Fortnite. That means that if you created an Epic Games account using your PSN account and then played and made in-game purchases in Fortnite on PS4, you could not continue your process on another platform with Fortnite.

John Koder, Presiden and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment said in a blog post, “We recognize that PS4 players have been eagerly awaiting an update, and we appreciate the community’s continued patience as we have navigated through this issue to find a solution.”

This open beta will serve as a test for Sony to enable cross-platform play on other titles on PlayStation.

Sony hasn’t released exact details of the open beta for cross-platform play for Fortnite but should begin in the coming weeks.
