Netflix has announced that Henry Cavill will star as Geralt, the leading role for their upcoming The Witcher series.
Cavill was previously in Mission: Impossible – Fallout and know for playing Superman in the DCEU films.
The series is based on the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski which in turn inspired The Witcher series of games by CD Projekt Red.

Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s The Defenders, Umbrella Academy) will serve as showrunner and executive producer for the series, alongside Alik Sakharov (House of Cards, Game of Thrones) and will direct 4 episodes.
Alex Garcia Lopez (Marvel’s Luke Cage, Utopia) and Charlotte Brändström (Outlander, Counterpart, Disparue) will direct 2 episodes each.
The Witcher series will consist of 8 episodes but no release date has been announced.
