Dell and Marvel Studios have teamed to show off how technology plays a role in Marvel’s upcoming film, Ant-Man and The Wasp.
“What’s great about this partnership is that it allows our on-screen tech to become a bit more tangible to viewers,” said Mindy Hamilton, Marvel’s Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships & Marketing. We might not be able to replicate Hank Pym’s advancements quite yet, but we hope that the film inspires people to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible just like our heroes do.”
In the film, Dell’s latest laptops like the G5 15 and the XPS 13 will be seen on the big screen.
“We are thrilled to team up with Marvel Studios on Ant-Man and The Wasp and demonstrate the superpowers of technology,” said Gerri Tunnell, Senior Vice President, Client Solutions Marketing at Dell. “There are a lot of similarities between our brands and fan bases. For example, our goal is to empower our customers, from gamers to visual effects artists, with high-performance technology to drive human progress just like Ant-Man and The Wasp rely on tech to make the world a better place.”
In addition to featuring some of Dell’s products in the film, their computers are used by some of the VFX companies that Marvel hires for Ant-Man and The Wasp. VFX studio, DNEG uses 300 of Dell’s Precision workstations as well as Dell EMX PowerEdge servers and hundreds of Dell monitors.
By using Dell’s machines, DNEG is able to create effects like Ant-Man and The Wasp shrinking, or Ghost phasing in and out of walls.
Dell has also pledged more than $50 million towards science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) since 2014 via partnerships and collaborations. Dell will be using their partnership with Marvel Studios and appearance in Ant-Man and The Wasp to help encourage members of the Boys & Girls Clubs to explore STEM.
Dell and Marvel will also be debuting a 3-episode video series about teaching kids about STEM in fun and engaging ways, starting June 27th on Marvel.com.
Dell is also launching a global ad campaign that incorporates the G5 15 Gaming laptop throughout print, digital ads and out-of-home placements in the US and Canada.
If you’re a fan of Ant-Man and The Wasp, there will be an exclusive custom comic book that features Dell’s computers. The comic will be available digitally on marvel.com/dell. Physical versions of the custom comic will be given as a collectible at San Diego Comic-Con and other promo events.
Ant-Man and The Wasp releases on July 6th, 2018.
