EA Play 2018: Everything you need to know

EA made a few announcements at their EA Play event, including ones about Anthem, Unravel Two, EA Sports games and more.


EA announced an official release date for Bioware’s upcoming game, Anthemwhich was delayed back in January.

The game will incorporate action-RPG gameplay with cooperative multiplayer. You and three other players can explore and battle in dangerous and mysterious places.

If you pre-order Anthem, you’ll get VIP demo access as well as an in-game Founders banner. The standard edition comes with a legendary weapon, the Legion of Dawn Armor Pack.

Anthem is set to release on February 22nd, 2019. The game will be available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

EA Origin Access Premier

EA announced a new subscription tier for Origin Access on PC. The tier gives you full access to EA releases on PC before release.

“Millions of players have experienced the fun of playing more games through our subscription programs, and today we’re taking another groundbreaking step with Origin Access Premier,” said Electronic Arts’ Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson. “Origin Access Premier unlocks unprecedented levels of choice and value for players who love PC games. For the first time in a subscription, you’re getting new games like Madden NFL 19, FIFA 19, Battlefield V and Anthem, and full access to more than 100 games from EA and other publishers with a single membership. We’re thrilled to be opening up this new way for players to access great games, with the freedom to play what they want, whenever they want.”

Origin Access Premier will cost $14.99 USD per month or $99.99 per year.

Unravel Two

EA and Coldwood Interactive announced Unravel Two, the sequel to 2016’s Unravel.

“Unravel Two is about the new bonds that form when we cut ties to the past,” said Martin Sahlin, Creative Director at Coldwood. “Like Unravel, it is a deeply personal game for the studio and our passion and life experiences are intertwined in the fabric of the journey players and their Yarnys will embark on. Unravel Two is about the unbreakable bond between friends and how hope and love can make the world around us a better place.”

The sequel adds co-op multiplayer, where each player will be able to control their own Yarny. The game can also be played in single player or via local co-op drop-in/drop-out.

Unravel Two is available now for Xbox One, PS4 and PC for $19.99 CAD.

Comand & Conquer: Rivals

EA announces a new mobile game called Command & Conquer: Rivals. It’s a player versus player (PV) real-time strategy game that is made for mobile devices.

“As huge fans of the strategy genre, we wanted to build a great RTS on mobile. Rivals embraces the spirit of the Command & Conquer franchise and reimagines gameplay to deliver our vision,” said Michael Martinez, General Manager of Redwood Studios. “Rivals is specifically designed for mobile, so we’re giving players quick, head-to-head live battles with continuous unit control, where skill and strategy reign supreme. The Google Play Pre-Alpha test allows us to put the game in the hands of our players earlier. We can’t wait to hear what they think and will use our players’ feedback to make Rivals better. We, the development team, are committed to delivering a fun, fair, and competitive experience for all players.”

You’ll be able to face off other players in head-to-head battles. You can pre-register at Command & Conquer: Rivals will be released on Android and iOS later this year.

NBA Live 19

EA has announced NBA Live 19, which allows players to be “The One” and create their own path to become the all-time basketball icon.

The game also brings new features and enhancements such as new locations, Real Player Motion (RPM) tech which brings new animations and smoother gameplay.

The NBA Live 19 is set to release on September 7th, 2018 for Xbox One and PS4.

Battlefield V

EA also announced that Battlefield V will come with a battle royale mode.

Battlefield V is set to release on October 19, 2018 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

EA and Respawn Entertainment also announced Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The game will focus on a dark time in the Star Wars timeline when the Jedi are being hunted.

According to Respawn, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will tell an original story of “a surviving Padawan set shortly after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is set to release in holiday 2019, most likely to coincide with the release of Star Wars: Episode IX in December 2019.


EA also officially announced FIFA 19, which now includes the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup.

“The UEFA Champions League has been one of the most requested features from players for over a decade, and we’re so excited for one of the World’s biggest competitions to join The World’s Game in FIFA 19,” said Aaron McHardy, Executive Producer for EA SPORTS FIFA. “We are elevating the experience this year in so many ways, from integrating UEFA Champions League content across the game, to adding a variety of new features that bring more control to gameplay.”

FIFA 19 also includes The Journey: Champions which is the finale of their story mode starring Alex Hunter, as you chase the UEFA Champions League trophy. You’ll also be able to build your own dream squad in FIFA 19 Ultimate Team.

FIFA 19 is being developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania. FIFA 19 is set to release on September 28th, 2018 for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch.
