BMW has announced the launch of the 4th generation of the X5 SUV for the 2019 model year.
BMW first introduced the X5 around 20 years ago and 2.2 million X5’s have been sold worldwide. There will be two variants of the SUV, the X5 xDrive 40i and X5 xDrive 50i.
The X5 xDrive 40i has a six-cylinder inline engine, which has 335 hp and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. The X5 xDrive 50i has a V8 engine with 456 hp and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds.
The 2019 BMW X5 will be built at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, which also assembles the X3, X4, X6 and soon the X7.
The 2019 BMW X5’s wheelbase is 42mm longer than the outgoing model. The SUV also has a more muscular appearance while retaining lots of space for passengers and cargo. The front of the 2019 BMW X5 has the signature kidney grills that are finished in matte aluminum.
The new X5 comes with BMW’s Adaptive LED headlights with a Laserlights option also available. The vehicle comes with 20-inch light-alloy wheels while the M Sport package comes with 21-inch M light-alloy wheels. There will also be a 22-inch option available.
Just like other BMWs, the 2019 X5 comes with a 12.3-inch fully-digital instrumental cluster display and centre infotainment display that is also 12.3-inches and BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional system which has the seventh generation version of BMW iDrive.
You can control iDrive not only with the controller but also via your voice or touchscreen. There is also 20GB of storage to store your media as well as two USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity.
The 2019 BMW X5 also comes with four-zone air conditioning and a Panoramic glass roof. You’ll also be able to get the rear-seat entertainment Professional system that adds a pair of 10.2-inch HD touch displays, a Blu-ray player, two additional USB ports of the rear passengers, HDMI ports and two headphone jacks.
The 2019 BMW X5 is expected to be available in November 2018, with a third-row seat option and the rear entertainment system option available in December.
Pricing for the 2019 BMW X5 will be announced closer to launch.
